FREEGAN holds regular resident focus groups

FREEGAN Foundation said 15 residents joined its latest focus group, with translators supporting three language groups.

A town stretches along a bay beneath green hills, with sailboats at anchor, a rock breakwater and a red-roofed water-taxi stop in the foreground.

FREEGAN Foundation said 15 residents took part in its latest focus group meeting, discussing their experiences and expectations of its support programmes. The foundation said English, Spanish and Haitian Creole speakers attended, with translators assisting participants.

According to FREEGAN, it holds focus group meetings about six times a year to gather residents' needs, concerns and ideas. Its in-house psychologist, Caroline van Oost, and community coaches Esther and Dorian facilitated the latest session, the foundation said.

FREEGAN said focus group discussions can cover food assistance, emotional well-being, education, social activities and welcoming spaces. The foundation said feedback from participants helps it assess whether its services remain relevant and identify areas where further support may be needed.
