VSA Inspectorate reform proposals move to review
Minister Claret Connor says proposals to reform the VSA Inspectorate have been developed, with draft legislation under review.

On Wednesday 14 October, Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) Claret Connor said proposals to reform the Inspectorate of VSA (IVSA) had been developed after assessments of its structure and operations. Connor said he supported advancing the proposals while draft legislation receives further review. Formal decisions remain subject to required review and decision-making processes.
According to the Ministry of VSA, the proposals are intended to improve the Inspectorate’s performance and coordination across public health, social development and labor. The ministry said the work covers the Inspectorate’s legal and organisational framework, staff capacity, internal procedures, communication systems and operational resources.
IVSA has engaged Inspired Psychology Practice and Consultancy for organisational and team development, the ministry said. The consultancy has begun individual profiling and workplace assessments. IVSA also engaged Altus Communications and a website designer to review procedures, improve communication and digital services, and develop a website where residents and stakeholders could access information and submit questions, complaints and concerns.
The ministry said the next phase will include an implementation roadmap for activities planned throughout 2027, while it continues reviewing the proposed organisational structure and advancing supporting legislation.
