Cpost International has released a postage-stamp series featuring traditional attire from Curaçao. According to Cpost International, the series was designed by Andre van Hoop and includes traditional women’s and men’s clothing.

Cpost International said the clothing shown reflects African traditions and European influences adapted to Curaçao’s tropical climate. The women’s attire includes colourful full skirts, embellished tops and a lensu, a cloth worn around the head that provided sun protection and had social and expressive significance.

The series also includes the cabana hat, which Cpost International said was hand-woven and used for protection from the sun. Handmade sandals known as chani, or hak, are also part of the traditional dress depicted.
