Rotary clubs provide 50 maternity baskets through island hospitals

Two Rotary clubs said they provided 50 maternity baskets to expectant mothers identified by hospitals on both sides of the island.

The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset and the Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle said they provided 50 maternity baskets for expectant mothers facing financial or other challenges on both sides of the island.

The clubs said Louis Constant Fleming Hospital on the French side and St. Maarten Medical Center, SMMC, on the Dutch side helped identify recipients. The baskets included diapers, baby wipes, clothing, blankets, towels, baby wash, shampoo, lotion, rash creams, pacifiers, bibs and personal care products.

The clubs said the project was supported by the Park Foundation, Lucky Cosmetics, Rotary members, sponsors and other donors. Jade Maccow, president of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset, and Grace Linger, president of the Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle, thanked participating hospitals, healthcare workers and contributors.

The clubs said the initiative falls under Rotary International's Maternal and Child Health focus area. The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset was chartered in 2018 and is part of Rotary District 7020, according to the clubs.
