ICC organisers raise litter concerns at Little Bay Beach

International Coastal Cleanup organisers say Little Bay Beach was littered again less than a month after this year’s cleanup.

International Coastal Cleanup organisers said Little Bay Beach had again been left with rubbish less than a month after this year’s cleanup. They said 180 volunteers collected more than 1,554 kilograms of litter and debris from coastal areas across Sint Maarten during the event.

The organisers said they were concerned about material they described as possible construction waste and fill encroaching on public beach space. They called for stronger enforcement against illegal dumping and for implementation of Plastic Free legislation intended to reduce single-use plastics.
