NAPB President Marcus Pantophlet said the union’s CCSU membership status was affected by declining membership, ahead of a 4 November meeting.

NAPB President Marcus Pantophlet responded to concerns from members about the police union’s participation in a joint general meeting scheduled for Wednesday 4 November 2026. Pantophlet said members had circulated questions about NAPB’s involvement in the meeting and its relationship with the CCSU.

Pantophlet said NAPB was not pushed out of the CCSU by WICSU-PSU or another union. He said CCSU membership is subject to representativity requirements, including a minimum membership number, and that NAPB’s membership declined as members retired or pursued careers elsewhere.

He said cooperation with other trade unions does not mean NAPB is giving up its independence or endorsing every position taken by another union. Pantophlet said the union’s priorities include working conditions, members’ rights, outstanding National Decrees, appeals, retroactive payments and representation in consultation structures.
