Lasana M. Sekou’s writing has been discussed in several scholarly publications in 2026, according to House of Nehesi Publishers. In October 2026, SAGE Journals published Tobias Schank’s article, “Blue bordertexturing: (un)knowing Caribbean wet borderlands,” which examines poems from Sekou’s Book of the Dead alongside Tiphanie Yanique’s Land of Love and Drowning.

House of Nehesi Publishers president Jacqueline Sample said Schank drew on poems including “daylight come, oui,” “Poem for the dead” and “sweet lil’ s’maatin’” in his discussion of Caribbean wet borderlands. Book of the Dead was published by House of Nehesi Publishers in 2016.

Sample also said African and Asian Studies, published by Brill, carried a review essay earlier in 2026 on Dannabang Kuwabong’s Rhetoric of Resistance, Labor of Love: The Ecopoetics of Nationhood in the Poetry and Prose of Lasana M. Sekou. The book examines Sekou’s writing on St. Martin’s history, people, culture and landscape, including the Great Salt Pond.

In August 2026, Textual Practice published Christina Kullberg’s article on Caribbean literary responses to hurricanes. According to Sample, a conversation between Kullberg and Sekou informed part of the article’s introduction.
