Government is considering paid parking, multi-level parking facilities and public-private partnerships to address parking pressure in Philipsburg and Simpson Bay, Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Patrice Gumbs Jr. said during the continuation of Parliament's 2027 budget debate.

Gumbs said VROMI applies parking requirements when reviewing new development applications and changes to existing buildings. He said a tiered paid-parking system could set higher rates closer to commercial centres and lower rates farther away.

According to Gumbs, at least one private parking initiative is under permit review and Government is assessing other opportunities. He said business cases for individual projects would determine the cost and feasibility of multi-level facilities.

Gumbs also said images circulated publicly of a proposed parking development were not issued by Government. He said the images were AI-generated media renderings and did not confirm an approved Government design or a finalised development.
