The Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department, BKCN, will conduct practical firefighter driver-training exercises on St. Eustatius from Monday 12 October through Friday 23 October. BKCN said the exercises form part of the second component of its firefighter driver training programme and focus on pump operation.

Training sessions will take place Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. BKCN said fire engines and training activity may be visible near sites used for the exercises across St. Eustatius.

Participants will learn to carry out pump-operator duties safely, according to BKCN. The department said a pump operator positions a fire engine for an emergency response and operates the pump and other firefighting systems.

BKCN asked road users and residents near the training sites to take the exercises into account and follow any instructions given.
