Dutch Caribbean primary schools invited to free nature quiz

DCNA is inviting grade 5 and 6 primary school classes in Sint Maarten and five other Dutch Caribbean islands to join its Big Live Nature Quiz online on Friday 30 October. The quiz will run from 9am to 10am AST, with classes able to connect from 8am.

According to DCNA, participation is free for classes from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten. The quiz will be held in English with Dutch and Papiamentu/o subtitles.

DCNA said the questions are based on its latest BioNews Kids magazine, titled Become a Climate Hero, which covers climate change in the Dutch Caribbean and actions children can take to protect nature. Teachers can use the magazine before the quiz, though preparation is not required.

The winning team and its teacher will receive a sailing and snorkel trip. DCNA said island prizes will include rash guards. Teachers can register their classes through DCNA.
