Member of Parliament Lyndon Lewis congratulated Terryanne Tondu on earning a bachelor’s degree in International Communication Management from Fontys University and a master’s degree in Management of Cultural Diversity from Tilburg University.

Lewis also commended Tondu’s master’s thesis, which examined how St. Maarteners navigate identity and belonging within the Dutch Kingdom. Lewis said the research puts St. Maarteners’ experiences at the centre of a conversation about identity, culture and belonging.

Lewis, of Nation Opportunity Wealth (NOW) and a former acting Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, said the research gives people an opportunity to reflect on how St. Maarteners understand their place in the Kingdom while maintaining connections to the island, heritage and community.

He also said academic achievements should be recognised and encouraged young people to pursue higher education. Lewis extended congratulations to Tondu and other St. Maarten students studying locally and abroad.
