The Eastern Caribbean Internet Exchange now connects Saint Eustatius, Saba, Saint Martin, Saint Barths and Saint Kitts, according to EUTEL N.V., Saba Statia Cable System B.V. and AMS-IX. The three organisations founded the exchange.

EUTEL provides local infrastructure on Saint Eustatius, while SSCS provides submarine fibre links between the islands, the organisations said. AMS-IX provides the technology for the exchange platform. They said connected networks can exchange internet traffic directly rather than use longer international routes.

Packet Clearing House has established infrastructure at the exchange on Saint Eustatius. Andrea Cima, Packet Clearing House's Chief Operations Officer, said the organisation had brought DNS infrastructure closer to networks and users in the Eastern Caribbean.

The three founding organisations said they plan to grow the number of internet service providers, network operators, content providers and digital infrastructure partners connected to the exchange.
