Nation Opportunity Wealth Member of Parliament Lyndon Lewis urged residents to discuss breast health, seek guidance from healthcare professionals and support people undergoing diagnosis or treatment during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Lewis said his aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2015 and died in December that year. He said the loss remained painful for his family and reflected the grief experienced by other families affected by the disease.

He expressed support for patients, survivors, families, caregivers and people mourning loved ones. Lewis also thanked healthcare workers, volunteers and organisations that provide care and assistance to patients and families.

Lewis said support could include listening, checking in, accompanying someone to an appointment or helping a family through a difficult day. He called on residents to honour people who have died and offer encouragement to those affected by breast cancer.
