The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association said on Monday 28 September that it selected photographer Rodney Washington as winner of its 2027 Events Calendar Photo Contest. His winning image will be featured in the 2027 edition of the SHTA Events Calendar.

According to the association, Washington will receive a weekend stay at Seaview Beach Hotel on the Philipsburg Boardwalk. Mara Bailey and Richard Santaga received honourable mentions, for Carnival photographs and Heineken Regatta images respectively.

SHTA said Santaga won the calendar competition’s 2026 edition. The association said the 2027 calendar will be its 11th edition and will have a new design after 10 years in its previous format. CC1 is the calendar’s main sponsor, according to SHTA.

The association also selected “Love in Spring Garden” as the 2027 Cultural Icon. SHTA said the production brings together actors from both sides of the island and was recognised for its approach to preserving island history and culture.

The Cultural Icon feature began in 2020, according to SHTA. The National Institute of Arts was the first organisation to receive the distinction in the 2026 edition.
