Six correctional professionals, including four staff members and two recent retirees, were honoured during Prison Workers Week 2026, the St. Maarten Prison Workers Activities Club said. The week ended on Sunday 11 October after activities held from 5 to 11 October.

The honourees were Amparo Sabina-Martina, Marisol Wilson, Julia Ambrosina, Marjonette Reenis-Cathlin, George Adamus and Selvin Williams. They were formally recognised on Saturday 10 October at the ALEEZE Convention Center, where Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling, prison directors from participating countries and invited guests attended, according to the club.

The club said correctional personnel from St. Maarten, Curaçao, Bonaire and Suriname took part, with a representative from Aruba also attending. The programme included sports competitions, a tour of the Point Blanche Correctional Institution and House of Detention, and a presentation by the United Nations Office for Project Services and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on the detention sector and new prison project.

Prison Workers Week closed with a celebration at the Jocelyn Arndell Festival Village, including trophies for the sports competitions. Another participating country is scheduled to host the next edition in October 2027, the club said.
